About us
Our Mission: Creating music, community and opportunity
Aardvark is a not-for-profit organisation that uses the power of music to give young people living with illness or disability the opportunity to re-expand their identity and wellbeing through creative self-expression, skills development and collaboration. Aardvark’s programs bring the young participants together with professional musicians and music therapists to write, record and perform original music.
Throughout 2011, ARIA Award winning artists Wally De Backer (Gotye) and Monique Brumby mentored and collaborated with 10 young people to write and professionally record five original songs as part of The Aardvark Sessions 2011 program. The group have called themselves Connected Lines, and their self-titled debut album was launched in October at a VIP function at Allans Music + Billy Hyde in Melbourne.
Wally and Monique co-produced the tracks on Connected Lines, and recorded vocals, drums, percussion, organ, guitar and bass for the album. The result is a collection of brilliant and inspiring songs spanning many genres that celebrate the achievements of these talented young musicians.
The CD is available through this website or from iTunes Store. All proceeds form the sale of this CD will give more young people the opportunity to take part in this life changing program.
